hi — how are you?
the skinny and quick —
i’ve got some 1:1 sessions available this month. i’ll also be slinging cards all weekend at kc pride fest with the tarot god dominique. saw a perfect rainbow this morning at the exact moment of the new moon. struggled a lot today but found myself showered with many gifts.
<3 book me book me book me book me <3
the long and rich —
like most of you probably, i’ve been struggling to reconcile the paradox of feeling compelled to acknowledge the unimaginable atrocities being perpetrated in gaza (and all around us — did you know you can’t get a divorce in missouri while pregnant? filed under things that literally boiled my blood to find out) while also owning my relative safety, privilege and disconnection from any question of day-to-day survival, even if it doesn’t always feel that way. it’s really fucking complex and challenging, right? it’s heart work. so, seriously, how are you?
what are feeling like your most effective acts of personal growth or resistance? where do you feel that you might be falling down in relation to your principles and where do you notice yourself standing up, making new choices, stretching across gaps? what seemingly impossible outcomes are you longing for most? what ways are or could you be choosing to take the next step towards fulfilling that goal or getting those needs met?
in star-speak, i’ve been calling this ‘gemini rehab season’ — we get jupiter there every 12 years or so, but even more rarely with mercury and venus. rehab because i think gemini’s have a bad rap culturally — maybe in relation to us lurching our way out of the ~2000 year age of pisces (which is what we call a square, traditionally tense), maybe because gemini is too much of a mirror to how much energy we culturally invest in surfaces over depths.
for me, like i think a lot of my chiron cohort (1983-88), i always had issues with geminis, because i had yet to make peace with how chiron in gemini (zapped directly by the new moon / venus cazimi today, which felt super ouch / yuck) marks me as a holder of medicine wanting to be unpacked. i’m getting a heavy/heady dose of it right now — the numinosity of the everyday, the subtlety and nuance; the way seemingly surface reads can betray unexpectedly cosmic truths; the capacity to laugh in the face of the unthinkable, not to dissociate but to lean deeper in, get more vulnerable with the mystery beating raw at the heart of the human experience.
it hurts, mona lisa smile — it hurts, be right there with it, cry, scream, punch something, sit still, listen to breath / space / life, laugh.
gemini asks us to ask, more than just rush to answer, the question — like, everyone was spiraling about george clooney’s palestinian wife’s perceived silence (of all people — why are we so sure we want every celebrity to chime in on every political cause again?), turns out she was working with the icc on a secret human rights report. there’s so much we literally won’t / can’t know until we ask. there’s a tension here between gemini and sagittarius, the wisdom of the child inside the elder, the me inside the us, the cosmic and the immediate. we’re not meant to just do whatever the hell we want because it’s “our truth.” living “in the moment” doesn’t mean we should never reach for things that aren’t directly in front of us. but neither are we meant to submit only to long-term goals (always out of reach) or whatever is currently entrancing the collective as good/right/”facts.” the world and the elder, as the child and the moment, are all meant to be part of a robust inner council — many voices, to consciously consult with, listen well to as you daily choose your path. this gemini season really has me clocking how the assumptions i so quickly make and justify usually tell me more about myself than anyone else.
also — bizarrely, perfectly, google has named its proprietary AI “gemini.” what do we think they’re calling in for us culturally with this? the thing can collate reasonable inferences (while burning massive quantities of carbon) to learn from mass quantities of data, but watch out - it may also answer with a “hallucination.” a hallucination, a lie, or something else? what is a hallucination but a divination without context or a meaningful framework to hold it? an answer without a question or the answer to the wrong question or perhaps the one we weren’t prepared to admit we wanted to ask?
back to gemini sitting in balance with sagittarius - like the ageless, infinite wisdom of the soul within the infant. on the surface, we’re told we can only empathize with 100 people max. what’s happening across the world shouldn’t have anything to do with me. neither should the stars by that logic but, as the quantum physicians tell us, it really is all connected. we are each of a kind with the rest of the cosmos. i can’t literally go stop a genocide with my bare fists (or for that matter my instagram posts). even the apartheid close to home i at times fall into traps of feeling powerless to affect. but (gemini, trickster magician) knows that life responds to sympathetic magic. place that pebble, shift that storm. move it inside, the change echoes out. rearrange the pieces and then go organize with similarly resonating folks. we don’t necessarily need a mass movement where everyone agrees — we just need a fulcrum shift. so how do we do it? where do we apply our force strategically to create the most dynamic shift? there are just a few of the many questions we can ask when we go to spirit for help.
so — i have some 1:1 sessions available this month. i wanna help you discover who your helping spirits are and learn to connect with them in practical ways that support you in living the life you want, resisting the ways injustice has been insidiously seeded within us and reconciling with the parts that have gift to offer this time but seem stuck in the unresolved stories of the past. if you’re a parent — i want to help you meet your kids’ helping spirits and employ them in lessening your often impossible work. if you are recently bereaved, i want to help your loved ones cross over so that they can reconcile and return to us as wise, well-seated ancestors instead of earth-bound ghosts (no offense!) and disentangle where they may still be bound up with your grief. i want to help you tend your family’s spirit, or that of your business, art practice, organization or home base. we all have them (spirits). they’re just a divination away. whatever needs to be teased out, untangled, solidified or released between you and spirit - together we can do it.
in true gemini / trickster, ‘let’s just get this shit fucking done’ so we can all relax and move onto something else fashion — spirit work doesn’t have to be deliberately obscure, appropriating, exotic and unattainable or rigidly ideological and rigidly policed. spirit work can be simple, practical, accessible and achievable - whoever you are, wherever you’re at. and did i mention fun?! and sometimes just a massive relief.
cards, stars or a direct download from spirit - each of these modalities are time-tested inheritances that are each essentially gifting us with the same possibility - to see what is unseen to us, know what is unknown, to interpret these messages within a framework that supports life, nature and human in relationship with all beings in ways harmonious and just. the actions we take from there are on us, but i’m here to help in all the ways i can at every step.
so check out my schedule, hit me up if you can’t find a time that works, keep waging your resistance, please keep taking care of yourself — you are needed, whether your work is seen, known, popularly appreciated or not. your helping spirits see, know and love you. they see, know and love each us, no matter how far we turn away from their guidance or how bad we fuck up. and who the heck couldn’t use a little more love and compassionate witnessing at a time like this?!
thank you for reading this <3 i hope you’ll reach out and/or share with your friends and folks.
big blessings,
alexis
